Over the past 5 years Adam Sellars has been on what could be described as a spiritual journey that has culminated in the colliding of two worlds that have shaped the person he is today. As an athlete Adam has always grappled with the pressure that is part and parcel of the sporting experience and the other is his own battles with the pressures in life which at one point threatened to cripple and derail his life.
The misunderstood sport of Freediving has opened Adam’s eyes to a new way of living and coping with the pressures and stresses of sporting, work, and his personal life, which Adam wishes to share with teams, organisations and individuals alike. The principles of meditation, power of breath and breath hold and the ability to embrace and withstand the powerful messages from the brain which limit us is what Adam has used to empower himself and others in his new path of helping people unlock their potential through releasing the shackles of pressure.
Eloise Power
Freedive Instructor & Tour Guide
Turning Panic into Power
Eloise Power is a Freedive Instructor who started her Freediving journey with Adam nearly 5 years ago in search of overcoming a fear of the ocean after a surfing accident. Since then she has never looked back.
Elle has been a school teacher for 20 years so with her extensive experience in education she is a dedicated, passionate, safe and supportive instructor in the water. Through her own navigation of her fears, Elle has seen and felt first-hand the power of overcoming her fears and has developed solid mental strategies to help herself and her students both in and out of the water, when under pressure. She can help others to break down mental barriers and blocks through the use of breath, meditation and yoga principals to help you feel comfortable and empowered in the water.
Most recently Elle is a qualified Mermaid Instructor where she can take the principals of freediving and combine them with beauty, grace and fun of Mermaiding as well as capturing treasured memories with underwater photography. Mermaiding is a great way to start your freediving journey, in a safe, non-competitive environment with no limits or goals to achieve. Elle helps people to unleash their inner goddess through Mermaid Freediving.
Elle helps people to comfortably look within themselves for strength, for answers, for self-love and support instead of always seeking it from “out there.”
She has a respectful passion for the depths of the ocean and her mind which are two of the strongest and most powerful forces in the universe. When strategies are practised and applied to diving in the water and to everyday life, they can help calm an overthinking mind which alleviates stress and anxiety and can assist in mental health.
My Mission: “I want to help people become the greatest version of themselves, I want to help people to feel good and experience joy, to feel beautiful, to feel amazing and free, to feel strong, empowered, to feel brave, to feel like they’ve accomplished something, to feel fully supported and loved on their journey.
You have to experience this for yourself to see how powerful it is! Your life will never be the same.”
Eloise is looking forward to sharing her experience in Freediving in the Noosa and Sunshine Coast regions.
Gosia Stalinska
Freedive Instructor
Gosia is a psychological scientist whose research explores the mental health benefits of freediving. Beyond her career in mental health, she is a PADI freediving instructor and a 500RYT yoga teacher, passionate about all things wellbeing and marine conservation. She has completed her freedive instructor training under the guidance of Adam Sellars and is excited to share her love for the ocean with the Pressure Project students during courses and retreats.
Freediving has profoundly transformed her own life from the very first time she descended under the surface off the Baja California Sur coastline in Mexico. That experience revealed a profound sense of mind-body connection she never knew existed and introduced her to a unique pathway to inner calm, one that ultimately inspired her to pursue freediving as both a career and a psychological research focus to help others harness the therapeutic benefits of breath-hold diving, fostering mental resilience, emotional regulation and a deeper connection to themselves and nature.
On her days off, you can find her enjoying sunshine by the ocean, surrounded by friends and family, fun diving, surfing, or camping!
Lise de Boer
Marketing Manager & Ocean Photographer
Lise grew up on the coast of Norway, where the ocean was always a big part of her life. But it was after moving to Byron Bay in 2020 that her connection with the water really deepened. As a marine life and in-water surf photographer, she spends a lot of time in the ocean, but it was freediving that took things to another level.
She first trained with The Pressure Project in 2023 and was instantly hooked. Since then, she’s become an Advanced Freediver (ticking that off on a retreat to Lady Elliot Island) and is now training with Adam to become a freedive instructor.
As Marketing Manager at The Pressure Project, Lise keeps things running behind the scenes and helps bring the brand’s vision to life. More than anything, she’s passionate about getting people in the water—because the more we connect with the ocean, the more we want to protect it.
Eamon Porter
Freedive Instructor
Eamon has been drawn to the ocean his entire life, growing up surfing and snorkelling with his dad. The ever-changing nature of the sea, its vibrant colours, and the marine life within it continue to fuel his passion for the water.
Beyond surfing and snorkelling, Eamon’s love for freediving and photography has shaped his journey. He spends countless hours in the water, capturing the beauty of the ocean through his lens, blending his skills as a freediver and photographer.
He has completed all levels of freediving courses with Adam, from his first breath-hold experience in Australia to becoming a certified instructor in Amed, Indonesia. Now, he’s excited to share his passion and knowledge with The Pressure Project community, inspiring others to connect with the ocean in a deeper way.
Taylor Mckeown
Olympic Swimmer & Freedive Instructor
Taylor McKeown is a former Australian representative in swimming who retired retired after her 3rd Commonwealth Games in 2022. During her 8 years of swimming at the top level, some of Taylor’s achievements include:
– 1x Olympic Games (1x silver medal)
– 3x World Championships (3x bronze medal)
– 3x Commonwealth Games (1x gold medal) – 1x USA Open (1x gold medal)
– 6x Australian Champion.
Taylor has always loved being in the water, and was an avid snorkeller before discovering freediving.
While on a whale swim retreat in Tonga in 2016, Taylor was surrounded by freedivers who could swim through caves, drop down deep to swim over coral reefs and have a good enough breath hold to be able to play underwater with an inquisitive humpback whale calf.
Upon her return to the same retreat in 2018, Taylor had completed a PADI freediver course after decided that she wanted to do all the things she saw the other freedivers doing in 2016.
And so, her passion for freediving was born when Taylor came face to face with a humpback whale in Tonga which decided to play with her and the other divers for hours. Since, Taylor has completed all PADI courses, travelled the world with freediving even diving in the worlds deepest pools in France and Dubai. Taylor is also an Animal Ecologist, bringing a wealth of knowledge in aquatic wildlife, perfect for those wishing to learn about the animals they will be freediving with and their behavior.
Chelsea Smetana
Tour Guide & Freediver
Chelseas’ passion for the water began at an early age in Canada, and grew when she discovered scuba diving in 2010, eventually earning her Dive Master certification in 2016. But it wasn’t until she took on the challenge of freediving in 2024 that she found an entirely new way to connect with the ocean.
An avid traveler, Chelsea explored over 85 countries before finally finding a place to call home in Australia. After over a decade working in Management Consulting in the US, Chelsea came to Australia on a holiday to learn to sail—but she quickly realized she couldn’t resist being underwater. Now working as a guide, she’s embracing a life centered around the outdoors and ocean while advancing her freediving training.
